Inuyama City, Aichi Prefecture has been prospering because of its importance of location from traffic and logistics view points since ancient times with Kiso River, one of the largest rivers in Nobi Plain flowing through the northern part of the city. 

 It played a role as a strategic battle ground in the Warring States period and developed as a castle town in the Edo period.

Because of those history many historical footprints still remain around the city.

Among them there is Inuyama Castle which has the oldest wooden castle tower in Japan, built in 1537 by Oda Nobuyasu, an uncle of Oda Nobunaga who was one of the most famous warlords.

 From the top of the castle you can see the amazing view of Nobi Plain. There is a corridor surrounding the top floor of the castle so you can see the far beyond around the area.
When weather is fine you can enjoy the beautiful view of Kiso River, Mt. Ontake, Gifu Castle and skyscrapers around Nagoya Station.

In addition, Ukai, a traditional fishing method in which fishermen called Usho manipulate cormorants to catch fish is also performed just in front of Inuyama Castle at Kiso River.

Inuyama Festival which has been inherited by locals since 1635 is another attractive traditional culture. The festival is designated as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Property with well known thirteen floats and string puppets shown around in the festival.

Foreigners visiting Inuyama City continue to increase thanks to these attractive culture and history.

COVID-19 cases rise in Japan amid state of emergency, Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics to be downsized The Japanese government has decided to add three prefectures to its state of emergency as coronavirus cases continue to rise.   Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga said on May 14 that he decided to expand a COVID-19 state of emergency covering Tokyo and other areas to three more prefectures as infections continue to surge ahead of the Summer Olympics.  Starting on May 15, it will cover Hokkaido, Okayama and Hiroshima in an effort to curb infections and ease the strain on medical systems. Conveyor belt sushi , also known as Kaiten-sushi is a semi-self-service type, inexpensive sushi restaurant where small plates bringing various types of sushi on them are continuously circulated on chain conveyors installed along the seats.  Fresh and well-made sushi can be enjoyed for relatively cheap prices there.
